Terms of Use
Last updated October 24, 2026
Welcome to Jewlp. These Terms of Use (the “Terms”) are an agreement between you and Jewlp (“Jewlp,” “we,” “us”) that governs your use of jewlp.com and everything we offer through it (the “Service”). Please read them.
1. What Jewlp is
Jewlp is an online directory and community board where people find and share Jewish-owned businesses, kosher food, synagogues, mikvaot, community organizations, jobs, events, and recommendations. Listings, reviews, events, job posts, requests, and replies are submitted by members, by business owners, and by Jewlp staff working from public sources such as a business’s own website.
Jewlp does not sell goods or services itself and does not perform any of the services that appear in listings.
2. Agreeing to these Terms
By using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Jewlp.
- You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or post content.
- If you use Jewlp on behalf of a business or organization, you confirm that you are authorized to bind it, and “you” in these Terms includes that business or organization.
- We may update these Terms. See section 19.
3. Jewlp is a directory, not a party to anything
This is the heart of these Terms.
- Jewlp is not a party to any conversation, estimate, agreement, purchase, hire, booking, employment, or transaction between you and a business, professional, employer, event organizer, or other member. Any arrangement you make is between you and them alone.
- A listing is not an endorsement. It is not a recommendation, referral, or guarantee by Jewlp. It means someone submitted the business and it passed a basic review.
- We do not employ, supervise, control, license, insure, or vouch for anyone listed on the Service. Jewlp is not an agent, partner, or joint venturer of any business or member.
- You decide. You are solely responsible for choosing whom to contact, hire, buy from, work for, or meet, and for anything that results.
4. Community-sourced information
Everything on Jewlp is community-sourced. Members and business owners write it, and our staff add some listings from public sources. We try to keep things accurate, but we do not independently verify most of it and cannot guarantee any of it.
- Details such as address, phone, hours, prices, services, languages, and service area come from the submitter or from public sources and may be wrong or out of date.
- “Jewish-owned or Jewish-operated” is a statement the submitter made when adding the listing. We rely on it. We do not investigate ownership.
- Kashrut. Kosher status, supervision, and certifying agency are as reported by the submitter. Jewlp is not a kashrut agency and gives no hechsher. Confirm current supervision with the business or your rav before relying on it.
- Licenses and insurance. If a listing says a business is licensed or insured, that is the submitter’s statement. Confirm it with the business and with your state or county licensing authority before hiring.
- Badges. “Verified” means Jewlp staff matched basic facts (name, location, contact details) against public sources when the listing was added. “Claimed” means someone showed us they represent the business. “Recommended by a member” or “Community listing” means a member or our staff added the listing, not the business itself. None of these is a statement about quality, reliability, safety, legal compliance, or ownership.
- Reviews and ratings are the opinions of the people who wrote them, not ours.
5. Your dealings with businesses are your own
Use the same judgment you would with a business you found through a friend, a shul bulletin, or a search engine. Before hiring or buying, consider getting a written estimate, confirming licensing and insurance, asking for references, confirming kashrut with the business or your rav, and paying in a way you can trace.
If something goes wrong, your recourse is with the business, not with Jewlp. Jewlp does not mediate disputes, process payments, or guarantee refunds, workmanship, delivery, or safety.
6. Your account
- Keep your password private. You are responsible for everything done through your account.
- Use your real name or a consistent nickname. One account per person.
- Tell us at admin@jewlp.com if you think your account has been compromised.
- Invitations and referral links or codes may be used to join or to invite others. A referral code gives no payment, ownership, or other rights unless we say so in writing.
7. Your content
“Content” means anything you submit: listings, reviews, ratings, photos, logos, menus, replies, events, job posts, requests, and messages.
- You own your content. By submitting it you give Jewlp a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual license to host, store, copy, display, adapt (for example, resizing a photo or generating a share image), distribute, and promote it on and in connection with the Service, including in search engine results and social media previews. This license continues after you delete content to the extent it was already shared with others or remains in backups for a reasonable time.
- You confirm that you have the right to post it and that it is truthful.
- You are responsible for your content. Jewlp does not pre-screen most content, although new listings, events, and job posts are reviewed before they go live. We may edit, move, hide, or remove any content at any time, for any reason, without notice.
- Business owners who have claimed a listing may reply publicly to reviews and may ask us to look at a review they believe breaks these Terms. We decide at our discretion.
8. Community guidelines
Be a mensch. Specifically:
Reviews
- Write only about your own firsthand experience with that business.
- Do not review a business you own, work for, or compete with, or one owned by close family, and do not ask friends to review it for you.
- Do not offer, accept, or request payment, discounts, or anything else in exchange for a review, and do not write reviews for hire.
- Keep it relevant: the business and your experience, not politics or the owner’s personal life.
- No threats, harassment, hate, slurs, or lewd content. You can be unhappy without being cruel.
- Do not post other people’s private information, such as full names of staff, home addresses, personal phone numbers, or photos of people who did not agree to be photographed.
- Post only content you created or have the right to use.
Listings
- Only Jewish-owned or Jewish-operated businesses and relevant community resources. Do not submit a business you know does not qualify.
- Real businesses only, with working contact details. No placeholders and no duplicates.
- Do not claim a listing you do not represent.
Events, jobs, and requests
- Real events and real job openings only, with accurate details. Job posts expire and must be renewed.
- Requests are for honest recommendations. Do not use them to advertise your own business.
Everywhere
- No spam, bulk messaging, or affiliate links.
- Follow the law, including consumer protection, advertising, employment, and anti-discrimination laws where you are.
We may remove content and suspend accounts that break these guidelines, with or without warning.
9. For business owners
- When you list a business you attest that it is Jewish-owned or Jewish-operated. Listings that are not may be removed.
- Keep your listing accurate. You are responsible for your listing’s statements about licensing, insurance, kashrut, prices, and services, and for complying with the laws that apply to your trade, including any requirement to display a license number in advertising.
- Claiming a listing lets you edit it, reply to reviews, see aggregate statistics, and flag a review for staff review. We decide claims at our discretion and may revoke them.
- You may not review your own business, offer customers anything in exchange for reviews, or discourage honest negative reviews.
- Listing on Jewlp is free today. If we ever add paid features we will say so clearly and separately.
- You can ask us to remove your listing at admin@jewlp.com. We may keep factual information that is already public elsewhere, such as the business name, location, and category.
10. Things you may not do
- Scrape, crawl, copy, or harvest listings, contact details, or other content in bulk, or use automated tools to access the Service except as ordinary search engines do.
- Use Jewlp to build a competing directory or to compile or sell contact lists.
- Impersonate anyone, create fake accounts, or misrepresent your affiliation with a business or with Jewlp.
- Post malware, interfere with the Service, probe its security, or bypass access restrictions, including members-only content.
- Use the Service for unlawful discrimination, harassment, or anything else illegal.
- Use the Service where doing so is blocked or would violate sanctions or export laws.
11. Our content and trademarks
The Jewlp name, logo, design, and the way we organize and present content belong to Jewlp. You are welcome to share links and use our share features. You may not copy the Service, our compilation of listings, or our branding without our written permission.
12. Third-party services and links
The Service includes links and tools from others: maps and map tiles, address lookup, Google Analytics, phone and WhatsApp links, and business websites and social accounts. Those services have their own terms and privacy practices. We are not responsible for them or for any site you reach through a link.
13. Copyright complaints
If you believe content on Jewlp infringes your copyright, email admin@jewlp.com with: a description of the work, the address of the content on Jewlp, your contact details, a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized, a statement under penalty of perjury that you are the owner or authorized to act for the owner, and your physical or electronic signature. We respond to valid notices, and we may remove the content and notify the person who posted it.
14. No warranties
The Service and everything on it are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, and uninterrupted or error-free operation. In particular, Jewlp makes no promise about any business, professional, employer, event, member, or content on the Service. Some jurisdictions do not allow some of these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, Jewlp and its owners, staff, moderators, and volunteers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or property, or for personal injury, arising out of or related to the Service or to any business, member, or content on it, however caused and under any theory of liability, even if we were told of the possibility.
Our total liability to you for all claims together is limited to the greater of one hundred US dollars or the amount you paid Jewlp in the twelve months before the claim. If you are unhappy with the Service, your remedy is to stop using it.
16. Release
If you have a dispute with a business, professional, employer, event organizer, or other member, you release Jewlp and its owners, staff, moderators, and volunteers from all claims, demands, and damages of every kind, known or unknown, arising out of or connected with that dispute.
If you are a California resident, you waive California Civil Code section 1542, which says: “A general release does not extend to claims that the creditor or releasing party does not know or suspect to exist in his or her favor at the time of executing the release and that, if known by him or her, would have materially affected his or her settlement with the debtor or released party.”
17. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Jewlp and its owners, staff, moderators, and volunteers from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses, including reasonable legal fees, arising out of your content, your use of the Service, your breach of these Terms, your violation of any law or of anyone’s rights, or any dealings between you and a business or member. We may take over the defense of any matter covered by this section, and you agree to cooperate.
18. Suspension and termination
You can stop using Jewlp at any time and may ask us to delete your account. We may suspend or close accounts, remove content, or restrict access at any time, with or without notice, including for breaking these Terms or the community guidelines. Sections that by their nature should survive, such as your content license, the disclaimers, the limitation of liability, the release, indemnification, and governing law, survive termination.
19. Changes
Jewlp is new and changes often. We may add, change, or remove features. We may update these Terms; when we do, we change the date at the top and, for material changes, post a notice on the Service or email account holders. Continuing to use the Service after a change means you accept it.
20. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in the State of New York, and you consent to their jurisdiction. Claims must be brought within one year after they arise. Where the law allows, you agree to bring claims only individually and not as part of a class or representative action.
21. General
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Jewlp about the Service. If part of them is unenforceable, the rest stays in force. Our not enforcing a term is not a waiver of it. You may not assign these Terms; we may. Nothing in these Terms creates an agency, partnership, employment, or joint venture between you and Jewlp, or between Jewlp and any listed business. We may send notices to the email address on your account. Notices to us go to admin@jewlp.com.
